Abstract

An Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) workshop for the Peruvian anchovy (northern-central stock) was conducted involving 29 stakeholders and considering three main categories: “ecological wellbeing”, “human wellbeing” and “ability to achieve”. Priority was given to the conflictive issues of the fishery by classifying their risk, taking into account the impact level and the likelihood of it occurring. A total of 99 conflictive issues were identified; more than two thirds were classified, by consensus, as high or extreme. Almost half of the issues classified as high or extreme risk belonged to the category “ability to achieve”.
