Abstract

The equilibrium yield of the Peruvian hake (Merluccius peruanus) is estimated and the YE of 110 to 125 x 103 metric tons compared with the resulta of former publications. The influence of changes in mesh size in the Paita fleet is discussed and it is concluded that because of the length stratification in latitudinal areas the actual equilibrium yield of the above mentioned fleet is almost maximum.
