Abstract

It presents the methodology for obtaining biological, fishing and population information of the jumbo flying squid Dosidicus gigas in the 200 mile Peruvian sea that is applied in the Peruvian Research Marine Institute (Imarpe in Spanish) for the systematic recording of fishery statistics, biological and population aspects of the species in the main landing sites, research laboratories and aboard fishing and scientific vessels. The purpose of this document is to provide a standardized sampling and data recording tool that contributes to the generation of reliable and comparable information for the adoption of timely decisions oriented to the management of jumbo flying squid fisheries.
