Benthic marine invertebrates of the Áncash Region, Perú

Abstract

A total of 135 species of invertebrates of Cnidaria (6 species), Annelida (11 species), Brachiopoda (1 species), Mollusca (70 species), Arthropoda (34 species), Echinodermata (10 species), Sipunculida (1 species) and Chordata (2 species) were collected during intertidal and subtidal excursions along the coast of the Áncash Region, between 2003 and 2010. Taxonomic information and diagnosis, common names, habitat type, depth, ecological aspects, geographical distribution, distributional aspects, remarks and references are provided for each species. Sipunculus (Austrosiphon) mundanus is reported as a new record for Peru. Four species expanded its distributional range northward and nine species southward.
