Abstract

The age and growth of Cynoscion analis were determined trough the analysis of otoliths (sagitae) collected during March 1964-March 1965 and February 1972- February 1973, by IMARPE staff in Paita, Peru. The results from both years are compared and discussed in relation to El Niño phenomenon 1972-73 and its effect on the rings formation. The growth parameters obtained for the years 1964-65 were K = 0.267 and L. = 43.1 cm  and for 1972-73 were K = 0.252 and L. = 44.0 cm. Differences between these results and from other authors are discussed also.
