Partial fecundity of Peruvian mackerel (Scomber japonicus peruanus)

A new method - counts of hydrated oocytes - is applied for the first time to determine fecundity of the Peruvian mackerel (Scomber japonicus peruanus) . In February 1985, mean relative fecundity was 278 eggs per gram of female and mean batch fecundity of the sample was 78,174 eggs per female. It is shown that the Peruvian mackerel is a multiple (batch) spawner.
