El nuevo método para la determinación de la fecundidad de la Sardina peruana (Sardinops sagax)

Fecundity of the Peruvian sardine, Sardinops sagax, was determined for the first time by counting the number of hydrated oocytes. Analysis of variance showed that the differences between subsamples taken from various parts of the ovary were in sorne cases significant at the 5% level. On the population level, these differences are neglígible considering the high variation in fecundity between different females of the same weight.
