Fecundidad parcial de la sardina peruana (Sardinops Sagax)
Keywords:
Sardina Peruana, Anchoveta, FecundidadAbstract
The average batch fecundity of Peruvian sardine (Sardinops sagax) from a collection of 91 fish off Chimbote, Peru, in September–October 1982 was 55,000 (se = 140) and the relative fecundity (number of hydrated oocytes per gram female weight) was 300 (se = 40). The batch fecundity and fish weight relationship can be expressed by a linear function. We recommended three subsamples taken at different locations from the larger of the two ovaries for estimating the batch fecundity because the egg densities were found to be different within the ovary. Estimates of some parameters related to batch fecundity were compared between Peruvian sardine and northern anchovy (Engraulis mordax).
