Un nuevo método, Método de producción de huevos, fue usado para estimar la biomasa desovante de la anchovetaperuana, Engraulis ringens, de las áreas norte y central. Este método se basa en el estimado conjunto de la producción de huevos por unidad de peces adultos por unidad de tiempo. Se describe el método en detalle. La biomasa desovante del stock de anchoveta del área norte y central en agosto - setiembre de 1981 fue de 1.2 millones de toneladas métricas con límites de confianza a 95% de +- 56.80%
