The aim of this paper is to establish basic guidelines for the adaptation and development of a Peruvian fleet specialized in the capture of jumbo flying squid. The current fleet used to catch it damages the quality of the product and limits the consumer market. Faced with this situation, it is proposed to incorporate into fishing effort, scientific knowledge and high-productivity technology in technically appropriate vessels that coexist with the artisanal extraction system.
