Abstract

IMARPE has carried out a total of 31 cruises on pelagic resources hydroacoustical evaluation between 1983 and 2000. The first 13 (1983 -1991) have been based on the use of a specific echointegration constant for every species. Since 1992, TS-Length relationships to determine biomass of pelagic species were used. This paper includes the latitudinal variation of biomass distribution of the four most important pelagic resouces in Peruvian sea: Peruvian anchoveta (Engraulis ringens), sardine (Sardinops sagax sagax), horse mackerel (Trachurus murphyi) and mackerel (Scomber japonicus) for each cruise, including the statistical information.
