Abstract

During winter 2014, plankton volumes on surface ranged from 0.038 to 13.929 mL.m-3, with a mean of 1.76 mL/m3. The phytoplankton was the main component in 32% of the stations, being mainly in the coastal area between Punta La Negra and Pisco, with greater amplitude off Chicama, Callao and Pisco. The Cold Coastal Waters indicator (CCW), Protoperidinium obtusum, was localized at 2 nm off Chilca, coinciding with concentrations greater than 3 and 4 mL.m-3, where the phytoplankton was predominant. Ceratium praelongum, the Subtropical Surface Waters indicator (SSW), was registered between Huarmey and Huacho at 25 nm.
